它的排行名稱叫做「世界上最偉大的一百首英文流行歌曲」，排行中的歌曲是由流行音樂雜誌《滾石》和MTV音樂台在2000年合作的一個流行排行，歌曲選自1963年以來，歌迷和樂評認為史上最偉大的流行歌曲。
《滾石》雜誌和MTV音樂台在流行音樂的推廣和針砭上，本就有其標的性的認同和權威，只是，此次以「世界上最偉大的一百首英文流行歌曲」為title，還是有點讓人知其然，卻不知其所以然的小困惑。
